BEAUTY 101: Makeup

The most important steps before makeup application are cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Not only does properly cleansed skin look better, it also provides a better "canvas" for your makeup.

Step 1: Concealer
Dot concealer directly on dark circles and at the inner corners of your eyes. Use a finger to blend gently.

Step 2: Foundation
Apply a drop each to the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin. Using fingertips or a sponge, blend downward until foundation blends invisibly.

Step 3: Powder
Apply powder lightly over forehead and along nose, then down over cheeks and chin.

Step 4: Blush
Apply blush starting at the center of the cheek under the center of the eye, blending up and out toward the hairline. Blend with brush or fingertips.

Step 5: Eyeliner
Apply eyeliner close to the lash line on the outer 2/3 of the upper lid and to the outer 1/3 of lower lid. Smudge for a softer look.

Step 6: Eyeshadow
Starting from the inner corner of the eyelid, apply a lighter shadow outward and continue up and under the brow. Apply a darker shadow over the eyliner and in the crease of the lid, blending from the inner corner outward. Carefully blend the two shadows together.

Step 7: Mascara
Apply mascara to the upper lashes first, holding the brush horizontally. Hold the brush vertically and apply to the lower lashes, using just the tip of the brush. Separate the lower lashes with a brush if necessary.

Step 8: Brow
Use short, feathery strokes to softly fill in with color, following the natural arch of your brow.

Step 9: Lip Liner
Draw a smooth line from the center to the outer corner of the top lip. Repeat on the other side of the top lip. Draw a smooth line from corner to corner of lower lip.

Step 10: Lip Color
Apply lip color inside lip line. Blend the liner and color together to avoid any harsh lip lines.
